Malawi Children's Village is a home based orphan and other vulnerable children support program in Mangochi, Malawi. It now supports over 2000 orphans in 37 villages whose parent(s) have died of HIV/AIDS



* AIDS is changing the fabric of African cultural, social and economic life. In Malawi, Africa, there are now over one million HIV/AIDS Orphans in Malawi.



* Malawi Children's Village (MCV) is located in the district of Mangochi in Malawi. It is one of the poorest areas in Malawi and hardest hit by the HIV/AIDS epidemic



* Life expectancy: 1989 - 45 years; 2002 - 39 years



* Former Peace Corps Volunteers from the 1960's together with Chakunja Sibale, a Malawian, founded the program in 1996. Mr. Sibale is the director.



* In the spirit of the Peace Corps, MCV is administered and run by Malawians, assisted by international friends.
