On Saturday July 14, 2007 fire broke out in the nursery/nutrition/rehabilitation center destroying the building. No lives were lost. The fire apparently started in the kitchen after everyone had gone to sleep. The building was a total loss. The original building was the first building on the property and a signature piece for staff/visitors.

The new nursery almost completed in the picture at the bottom of the page should be completely ready by September 2008

The Nursery was the first building at MCV

Started as a Kitchen fire, no one was hurt

This new nursery will be bigger and better

The nursery cares for infants and under 2's who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. They are in residence until they are well enought to return to caregivers in the village. They are usually there for 12 or so months

MCV'S NEW REHABILITATION CENTER CONSTRUCTION PROGRESES WELL

The new rehabilitation center has now reached the roofing stage giving hope to the toddlers and babies who were left helpless when the fire gutted down the previous center. The babies are now temporarily housed in one of the rooms at mcv's clinic. The center is being constructed with funds from OPEN ARMS which will take over the management of the center.
